Thai Binh is a land of spiritual masterpieces, the homeland of Cheo (Traditional operetta), water puppetry and many special folk art forms with 09 intangible cultural heritages recorded in the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity, including 8 traditional festivals and a folk performance art.

Keo Pagoda Festival

Keo Pagoda Festival was recognized as an Intangible Cultural Heritage in 2017. Everyyear, Keo Pagoda Festival is held in two periods: Spring Festival on the 4th of lunar NewYear and the Autumn Festival (main festival) from the 13th to the 15th of September in Lunar calendar. The Festival in the Temples and Statue of A Sao

The Festival in the Temples and Statue of A Sao was recognized as an Intangible Cultural Heritage in 2015. The festival is held on the 10th day of February in the lunar calendar every year with activities such as procession, ritual. Soil Artillery competition, swimming competition, drag dance contest, ... 

 

Tien La Festival

Tien La Festival was recognized as an Intangible Cultural Heritage in 2016. It takes place on the 16th of March in the Lunar calendar every year to commemorate Bat Nan Vu Thi Thuc - a female general of Trung Sister Kindom to beat To Dinh's troops. 

 

Dong Bang Temple Festival

Dong Bang Temple Festival was recognized as an Intangible Cultural Heritage in 1986. The festival takes place from the 20th to 26th of August in the Lunar calendar. With traditional folk songs and folk games such as: Singing, Tugging. Swimming, Cockfighting, Chinese Chess,... 

 

The Festival of Long Khe Village

The Festival of Long Khe Village at An Khe commune, Ouynh Phu district was recognized as an Intangible Cultural Heritage in 2017. Every year, the festival takes place from the 23rd to the 25th of March in the Lunar calendar with many activities such as: Water procession, Books procession, Temple opening ceremony ... especially the Bat Dat dance performed by 32 virgin girls.

The Festival of Quang Lang village

Held on the 14th of April in the Lunar calendar every year in Huang Lang village, Thuy Van commune, Thai Thuy district, Thai Binh province. The festival is special with the dances of Dung and Da - in order to pray for the proliferation and prosperity. 

 

Sao Den Festival

It takes place from the 20th to 27th of March in Lunar calendar in An Lao Village, Song An Commune. Vu Thu District, Thai Binh Province. There are variety of interesting games such as Flute Kite contest, Duck catching, Chach catching, Rice cooking contest, Wrestling, Cheo performance, Light procession.
